Enjoy the Best of the Summer Sun With Algarve Hotels

The Algarve is known the world over for its stunning beaches and seemingly endless sunshine, making it the perfect destination for the ultimate beach holiday. It's no wonder that so many travellers flock to this beautiful part of Portugal year on year, and Algarve hotels give them the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sunshine at its best.

Choosing the right Algarve hotel for your needs

The Algarve is the perfect destination for all kinds of holidaymakers, whether you're a couple, a family or even a lone traveller. Your needs will often be different according to your situation and your reason for travelling, but you'll always be able to find an Algarve hotel that can perfectly accommodate those needs.

For example, some hotels specialise in family holidays whilst others are perfect for adults or for those that want a really romantic break. As such the features and amenities you'll get will differ accordingly, and the level of service will equally differ depending on your budget. But, don't be afraid to opt for the added extras - restaurants should always be included, and if you're after extra luxury always look out for an Algarve hotel that can offer spas, saunas or additional activities to keep you occupied.

Make the most of the summer sun

But, if you're heading to the Algarve, you'll need to consider a few additions if you really want the best. For starters, it goes without saying that you'll want your Algarve hotel to be as close to the beach as possible. There's no point in going on a beach holiday if you don't have easy access to it, so always choose accommodation that's in the right location.

Exceptional pools and sunbathing areas will also be an important consideration. There's nothing better than being able to enjoy the summer sun with a poolside drink and plenty of space for you to relax, and ideally you'll want both kids and adults pools so you can really enjoy yourself without it being too crowded.

Algarve hotels for any time of the year

But, don't think that it's just in the summer that you can experience the Algarve. Many Algarve hotels are open year-round and with stunning weather at nearly all times of the year you'll have no excuse not to visit, so get looking for your perfect Algarve hotel and get set to top up that tan.

Spain's Ecotourism Boost For The Environment

Regional authorities in popular tourist destinations are beginning to take matters of environmental protection into their own hands.

Governments and nonprofit organizations are banding together in the fight against pollution. Efforts to sustain tourism to favourite destinations without harmful effects to the local environment, as well as culture and social interactions, are the main focus for the most recent campaigns.

Mallorca Promotes Environmental Protection and Tourism

In order to maintain sustainable tourism in the Balearic Islands, Mallorca - often known as Majorca - is promoting a campaign that promotes environmental protection.

Environment friendly tourism in heavily visited areas is important for the overall atmosphere of tourist areas.

Island tourist locations tend to take more abuse from tourism than most other areas. The new campaign, developed by Palma's Tourism Institute, IMTUR, is called 'Palma, Responsible Tourism.' The World Tourism Organization also supports the initiative. The primary goal is to encourage tourists to be more environmentally responsible in Palma.

A few of the programme's objectives are:

* To educate tourists and residents on water consumption.

* Promote Palma and Mallorca as a prime tourism destination that places emphasis on protecting the environment and the Mediterranean.

* Encourage environmentally safe tourism once tourists arrive.

* Decrease carbon levels and air pollution from vehicles.

* Increase energy awareness and introduce energy conservation practices.

This isn't a comprehensive list, only examples of what tourists can expect from the 'Palma, Responsible Tourism' campaign. The programme includes incentives, activities, competitions and a cycling event available to all interested tourists. Palma Town Hall will donate 1 euro to the campaign for every tourist that takes part in activities related to the campaign.

Other Environment Friendly Vacation Locations

Palma's campaign may be new to the Balearic Islands and for tourists enjoying cheap holidays in Mallorca but the general idea is not new to other tourist destinations around the world.

Whether it is referred to as 'environment friendly tourism' or 'ecotourism' the end result is the same.

The general idea is to introduce tourists to recycling and other activities that will help sustain tourism in their favourite destinations. In protecting their favorite vacation spots, tourists also help to protect neighbouring rivers, streams, wildlife and communities from potential harm caused by pollution.

Similar campaigns exist in the Caribbean. One development firm was quoted as saying sustainability is 'finding the right balance between the need for development and the need for environmental protection.'

Overdevelopment of a destination can lead to a drastic downfall of the quality of vacations available to tourists. Locally owned shops and fisheries on the Caribbean Islands have joined the efforts to help combat the negative effects of mass tourism.

Resorts and hotels on Malta promote environment friendly tourism by setting a high standard for their guests and employees. Water and energy conservation are very high on the list, as are reuse and recycling.

Employees and guests are urged to turn off lights in rooms that aren't being used and to ensure water has been used conservatively and turned off when not in use. Recycling bins are placed in hotel rooms, and guests are encouraged to use only environment friendly, recyclable containers.

Environment Friendly Hotels and Resorts

Each passing year sees more hotels and resorts join the fight against pollution. Environmental agencies have begun offering initiatives and awards to hotels and resorts that go the extra mile to protect the environment. The very environment they seek to protect is the one that draws more tourists to their location year after year.

Several U.S. ski resorts have earned awards from environmental protection agencies recognizing the work they put into protecting the environment and local forests. Their efforts include using environment friendly cleaning products and recyclable take-out boxes, cups and flatware, as well as encouraging reuse of linens and towels and composting kitchen scraps with wood chips for use in landscaping. In all, eight U.S. ski resorts were recognized by Clif Bar & Company for environmental excellence.

perfect romantic break

If you're taking a romantic break in the UK you have to be sure you've got everything that you need. You wouldn't want to leave anything out and miss out on something that could be even more romantic than it would be otherwise. The first thing you'll need is somewhere to stay, and where you choose could depend a lot on what your idea of romance really is. Some people like to camp and be close to nature. Other people like to stay in an expensive hotel and be catered to and pampered the entire time. There are still others who are right in the middle somewhere. Wherever you fall along that line, make sure that your special someone falls into that same category. If you love to camp but she likes to be pampered, you'll want to have a romantic break that offers what she wants instead of what you want. It's the right thing to do when you're trying to have romance - or you could compromise and spend part of your break camping and the rest being pampered, depending on how long of a break you actually have.

Even short breaks can be romantic, but you'll want to plan ahead, especially if you're scheduling your break for a time of year when a lot of people will be visiting the area you're going to be enjoying. If you don't book in time you could end up staying somewhere that you aren't happy with or that isn't quite what you're looking for, and that could put a damper on the romance. Also, check out the restaurants that are offered in the area as well as whether there are romantic places to walk. Having a wonderful meal and taking a stroll can be very romantic, depending on where you're doing these things. In order to have the most enjoyment from it, find a place that will be special and enjoyable to both of you so that one of you isn't unhappy with the surroundings, the food, or the accommodations. By planning ahead and paying attention you can get a great romantic break that's perfect for the two of you.

The Bellagio Hotel Casino

The Bellagio is arguably one of the most exciting hotel casinos ever built. It can be found on The Strip in Las Vegas. To say it can be found is an understatement, in fact it can’t be missed.

Before you enter the building you will experience a magnificent display of expertly choreographed light, water fountains and music staged on the lake just outside. As the music, which can be classical, pop or show music, booms out over the huge speakers, a myriad of water fountains illuminated by multi-coloured lights dance matching the song in both rhythm and mood. The show attracts large crowds of people and is enthralling.

When you tear yourself away from the fountains and enter the hotel the experience is of huge luxury and splendour. The lobby boasts a ceiling display of literally thousands of glass flowers. As you wander around you will come across the botanical gardens and conservatory with displays of flowers, trees, rivers, sculptures and fountains mainly with a Chinese theme. You can visit the theatre and watch the Cirque du Soleil, another light sound and water show including synchronised swimmers and trapeze artists. There is an art gallery featuring modern greats such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. You can choose from a host of different style bars where you would like to relax with a drink, and from eight different style restaurants where you would like to eat. There is a range of different shops including haute couture featuring many leading designers. Should you decide to stay at The Bellagio there is a large range of different room styles with sizes ranging from extremely spacious to larger than most UK houses. Generally there are some very good room rates on offer, so a stay should not be too expensive.

The highlight of course is the casino. You can just watch or play poker at many different levels at one of 40 tables. There is also the high stakes Bobby’s Room with a minimum $20,000 buy-in. If poker is not your scene then there are well over two thousand slot machines with some jackpots well over £1,000,000. There are all the normal table games such as Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and many others. For the sports enthusiast there is a sports betting area with over 150 screens.

If you go to Las Vegas the Bellagio should be on your itinerary.
